Brouwershaven is a small harbour town on the Grevelingenmeer with a protected townscape. It began around 1285 as a new harbour for Brijdorpe and received its town charter in 1403. The poet and statesman Jacob Cats was born here, and his statue has stood on the market square since 1892. Thanks to its marina it is also a lively water sports town in summer.
