The Plompe Toren is a 15th-century church tower, a national monument in the Zuidkust van Schouwen nature area. It once stood in the middle of the prosperous village of Koudekerke. Floods swallowed the village; only the tower survived and served as a beacon for shipping on the Oosterschelde. From the viewing platform at 23 metres you look out over the salt-marsh fields, the enclosed polders and the Oosterschelde.
