Renesse is the liveliest seaside resort on Schouwen-Duiveland. The village centre is small and built around the church, with boutiques, restaurants, souvenir shops and ice cream parlours. Cafés and terraces are open all year, in winter with blankets, heaters and hot chocolate. The beach is about 7 kilometres long and runs from Watergat to the Brouwersdam; every beach access has a pavilion.
What to do
- Stroll through the centre, shop and sit on a terrace.
- Walk or cycle to the beach and eat at a beach pavilion.
- Head into nature on foot or by bike: dunes, forest and heath are close by, with a chance of deer, foxes and waterbirds.
- Try water sports: the Grevelingenmeer is calm for beginners, and the Brouwersdam offers kiting and land sailing.
Practical
- It gets busy in summer: come early or cycle.
- At Watergat you can sometimes see seals on the sandbanks.
