The Wing Bunker (command bunker 117a) was built in 1943 as a German command post from which the defence of Schouwen was directed, as part of the Atlantic Wall. The bunker measures about 24 by 14 metres, has 15 rooms and 3-metre-thick concrete walls. The name comes from the large concrete fin on one corner, which looks like a whale's tail or an aircraft wing. It lies between the Zeepeduinen and the Slotbos, within cycling distance of the holiday home.
