Boswachterij Westerschouwen is the largest forest in Zeeland and lies right by the sea. Staatsbosbeheer has laid out walking routes there. Among other things you will find a shelter, a lookout tower and a lighthouse.
What you can do there
- Climb the lookout tower.
- Search for hidden Second World War bunkers in the dunes. You may climb and walk on the bunkers, including at the command post on the high dune.
- Try the Klimbos Westerschouwen, with six courses with zip lines, rope ladders and wobbly bridges.
- Explore the Zeepeduinen, older dunes with small dune lakes.
Please note
- The Meeuwenduinen are off limits during the breeding season, from 15 March to 15 July.
- Cycling is not allowed in the Meeuwenduinen. Walking is only allowed on the marked paths.
